Why Knowing More About Your Shampoo Helps
- 01 Nov, 2022

With the recent discovery of elevated levels of benzene in dry shampoos, many major brands like Dove, Bed Head, Tresemme etc recalled their shampoos off the shelves in the United States & Canada. As benzene damages white blood cells, long-term consequences could result in cancer, anaemia, and low blood cell counts. Dry shampoos have been around in the beauty industry for many years and are considered an alternative to the hassle of washing your hair every day. It is not unknown that even the regular shampoos, which require water to wash your hair, are not free of similar chemicals which might lead to health concerns in the longer run.
Keeping your hair healthy and your body safe might require tiny changes in the way you choose your shampoo. With health concerns spiking in the present environment, it is important to be aware of what goes into making the shampoo you are using multiple times a month. The most commonly found chemicals which may pose a threat to your health if exposed (long-term) to excessive quantities in regular shampoos are different types of alcohol (propanol, isopropyl alcohol, ethanol etc), parabens, sulphates, dimethicone, phthalates etc. Chemicals like these can lead to complications like hormone disruption, cancer, bad hair health, reproductive issues, and environmental harm, etc.
Being a customer in a market with an abundance of options provides us with the freedom and opportunity to choose what is best suited for our bodies. A better alternative for such products can be choosing Kashayam Shampoos, which are an Ayurvedic medicine preparation and are a much safer choice in the long run.
But, what are Kashayam Shampoos? How do they work?
